AshantiGold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo has backed Liberty Professionals striker Reginald Asante on his appeal to have kick off times of the Ghana Premier League changed.
Asante in an interview with Joy sports on Saturday after their 1-0 win over Edubiase in Dansoman, advised the Premier League Board to consider moving back kick-off time to 4pm instead of the stipulated 3pm due to the heat.
He suggested that the hot-baking sun was having a toll on players and affecting quality. But his campaign seems to have drawn support from the renowned football administrator."The kick-off times must be changed to protect the health of players. If my memory serves me right, I think in one of our deliberations, the medical committee of the FA even came up with a report that we (clubs) were punishing the players by playing at 3pm, it is something we need to look at," said Kudjoe Fianoo"Don’t forget the scorching sun takes a lot of toll on our players so I will be the first person to advocate that kick-off time for the league be changed from 3 to 4."He added that: "The four main national stadia should be used in the meantime while other centers put themselves in the position of hosting late kick-offs."
