Chairman of the National Division One League Board, Lawyer Kwame Ntow Fianko has confirmed to JOY Sports his outfit has recruited two retired police officers on to the Disciplinary Committee of the Board. The police officers, whose identities will remain anonymous until they are given appointment letters from the Ghana Football Association, would fast track and prosecute disciplinary cases on the table of the Division One League Board on full time basis.Lawyer Ntow Fianko tells JOY Sports “the other members of the DC are part timers, a situation which causes delays in dealing with disciplinary cases.”
“The two policemen we have recruited are retired officers of the rank of ASP. We thought that we had too many pending cases which had not been prosecuted because the lawyers were not handling the cases as full time lawyers.”
“They attend to their cases at the courts and in their chambers and only come to the GFA as and when they were free.”“These police officers - unlike the lawyers who prosecute the cases for the DOL – they are on retirement and are not under anybody’s control. They will be at the GFA office from Monday to Friday, prosecuting cases mainly for Division One at the FA.“If they receive their appointment letters, they will be at the GFA on full time basis.”
