The inaugural Kumasi Book and Arts Festival (KUBAFEST) has been scheduled for September this year in the Garden City.
The Festival will celebrate the rich culture of the people of the Ashanti Region by providing a platform to harness the talents of local creatives.
KUBAFEST also aims at engendering a society-transforming conversation among contemporary writers, poets, artists, actors, filmmakers, and musicians.
Creative Director, Kwabena Brakopowers has explained: “the event will mark the beginning of an annual pilgrimage to Kumasi.”
Following the government’s declaration of 2019 as “The Year of Return”, he said KUBAFEST will host a majority of Africans from the Diaspora and treat them to good music, arts and books.
At least over 500,000 Africans from the Diaspora are expected to visit Ghana as part of the year-long programme launched by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
With its rich culture, KUBAFEST will transform Kumasi into a literary haven that will support the nurturing of young talents.
The Festival is an all-inclusive one open to all Ghanaians, especially students, writers, poets, musicians, scientists, politicians, actors and artists.
