Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko shared the points in Accra in the Super Clash on Sunday but either side will rue the many missed chances.
The hugely anticipated fixture, the biggest on the Ghana football calender finished 1-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Winful Cobbinah gave the Phobians the lead in the first half but Michael Helegbe drew Kotoko level in the 69th minute after poor anticipation by goalkeeper Tetteh Lugard when he attempted to go a cross.
The result takes Kotoko to second on the log as their title defence continues.
But there's change at the summit with Berekum Chelsea now leading the log after drawing goalless with New Edubiase while Medeama slipped to third following their surprise 2-1 loss to Liberty Professionals at home.
Ebenezer Assifuah and Bawa Mumuni did the damage at the T&A Park, scoring both goals.
AshantiGold closed in on a top-four place after winning 2-1 at Dormaa. Yakubu Mohammed and Latif Mohammed put the Miners in front before Emmanuel Allan scored the consolation.
Dwarfs handed Wa All Stars a 2-1 defeat, the Blues' first defeat in the second round of the league.
Wa All Stars drew first blood through Paul De-Vries but Richard Gadze and Asiwome Fumador scored to give Dwarfs the win.
At the Baba Yara Stadium, King Faisal were 3-1 winners over Heart of Lions with Abdullah Yashir grabbing a brace before Edem Kodjo pulled one back for Lions. However Sulley Mohammed sealed the win for Faisal with the third goal.
In Berekum, Arsenal defeated Amidaus Professionals 1-0 to boost their chances of escaping relegation.
