Berekum Chelsea’s U20 team left Accra on Wednesday morning for the 2013 Copa Amsterdam youth tournament in the Netherlands.
Head coach Baba Iddrisu Alhassan selected 16 players for the three-day tournament.
The team will transit in Casablanca and expected to arrive in the Dutch capital on Thursday.
The U20 will open their campaign against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday 18 May before playing two matches the next day against Borussia Mönchengladbach and AFC Ajax in Group A. Men United, Cruzeiro EC, Fluminense and Tottenham Hotspur are in Group B.
“The expectation is that our team win the trophy as they did in 2011 when they won the Yokohama Cup in Germany,” Berekum Chelsea spokesperson Isaac Amponsah told the club’s website.
Copa Amsterdam will take place from the 18th until the 20th of May, in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam and restricted to U19 players.
