Home owners along the Accra-Tema rail lines whose houses have been marked for demolition are vowing to resist any attempt to pull down of their structures. On Tuesday, Transport Minister, Dzifa Ativor, announced that about 60 houses built close to the rail lines will be demolished to make way for the expansion of the rail tracks. But the property owners told Joy News they built within the perimeters specified by the Railway Authority and will therefore only relocate if they are adequately compensated. They say government must find another place for them if it insists on removing them from the land. The Transport Minister would not indicate whether the affected persons will be compensated, except to say that the allocations were not accurate. She insists the property owners did not build 200-metres away from the rail lines as directed by law.
