A two-member delegation from the Kenya Amputee Football Federation (KAFF) yesterday completed a four-day learning experience in Ghana, host of last Amputee Cup of Nations, as the east African country prepares to host the next edition of the competition.
The Secretary-General of KAFF, Peter Oloo, and his National Treasurer, Charity Njoki Kamau, had series of meetings with various stakeholders, including the Sports Ministry whose Chief Director, Alhaji Abdulai Yakubu, was the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee when Ghana hosted the tournament last year.
The four-day orientation and learning experience focused on key areas such as budget, sponsorship and organisation, as well as the need for government support to have a successful tournament.
The East African country would be hosting defending champions Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone and South Africa in the capital, Nairobi.
The President of the Africa Amputee Football, Francis Adjetey Sowah, who doubles as the president of the Ghana Amputee Association, and a consultant and Strategic Business Development Manager for the association, Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, took turns to share Ghana’s experience with their guests, pointing out the likely bottlenecks in organising such tournaments.
The two-member team expressed their appreciation to their Ghanaian hosts on their eye-opening experience which they said would enhance the planning and successful hosting of the seven other countries.
