Tension is said to be mounting at Ngleshie Amanfrom, a community near Kasoa in the Central Region as residents threaten a face-off with armed gangs they say have for the past months been terrorising them.
Joy News’ Fred Smith who has been to the community said tension is mounting in the area.
According to Fred Smith, the situation has been instigated by a long standing land dispute between the stool of Ngleshie Amanfrom and some families and residents in the community.
The land dispute had been sent to court and a ruling given in favour of the Ngleshie Amanfrom stool, however, the ruling stated that all transactions made between the family members and owners of the land should be upheld as valid.
But the ruling did not go down well with the Ngleshie Amanfrom stool who had demanded that all transactions be annulled by the court.
The Judge hearing the matter ruled that if all transactions between the family and residents were made invalid, innocent people who have purchased land would be affected.
Residents in the community have vowed to attack anyone who is found writing on or brutalising their property.
The Chief of Amanfrom, Nii Kwashie Gbolor, is appealing to the security agencies to come to their aid because the situation is getting out of hand.
“[The security agencies] shouldn’t wait for anything to happen. They should come to our aid quickly and put those people in order so the community will remain calm”, he appealed.
