Indian automobile company, Ashok Leyland says it is committed to investing more into Ghana’s transport sector with quality products.
President of Ashok Leyland, Nitin Seth says after nine years of doing business in the country, they will continue to respond to the needs of customers.
He says beyond its products, the company will create concrete and seamless support systems to provide after sale services.
Nitin Seth spoke to JoyBusiness after launching four new ranges of automobiles for the company at Tema.
The newly introduced models are Boss, Captain, Partner and Hawk and are noted for fuel efficiency and designed for industrial duties as well as for public transportation purposes.
President of Ashok Leyland, Nitin Seth noted that the economy is highly dependent on the transport sector and the performance of vehicles.
He called on banks to offer competitive interest rates to enable more customers to go in for more of the company’s busses.
“we will try our best to give good quality vehicles but the local interest rate and the current banking scenario must help customers to acquire our vehicles,’’ he noted.
He said his company is undertaking feasibility studies which could lead to the establishment of an assembling plant in the country.
Nitin Seth also touched on proposed feasibility studies the outcome of which could lead to the setting up an assembling plant in Ghana.
Meanwhile, Deputy Transport Minister, Daniel Titus-Glover called on Leyland to invest more to create jobs for the youth.
He said he hopes Ashok Leyland, Rana Motors will support the vision of president Akufo Addo as he makes efforts to bring in more automobile companies to establish assembling plants in the country.
“It is our belief and prayer that you don’t just import from India but also establish the assembling plant here in Ghana to boost our economy,’’ the deputy transport minister added.

Ashok Leyland is the world’s 4th largest manufacturer of buses and 10th in the manufacturing of tracks.
The company exports its products to 50 different countries.
Ashok Leyland has been on the Ghanaian market for nine years through its partner Rana Motors which is celebrating four decades in Ghana.
