Irate youth in Ashaiman, are currently protesting the bad nature of roads in the area. Eye-witnesses say the youth have taken over the tollbooths on the motorway.
The angry youth, who are said to be more than 100, are also looting monies and properties in the tollbooths. Reports say they are also demanding monies from people stuck in traffic on the motorway.
The youth have blocked major roads in the Ashaiman area and burning tyres. Thick black smoke has engulfed parts of the municipality where the youth have mounted the road blocks.
Chief Superintedent David Ocloo, District Police Commander, who confirmed the news says his men are trying to contain the agitations.
Municipal Chief Executive of Ashaiman, Numo Adinotey Addison, also said police are in the area trying to contain the situation, but eye-witness account says otherwise.
The agitating youth are said to be causing mayhem without any police personnel present. An eye-witness account indicates there was only one police vehicle present.
