A Circuit Court in Accra will Wednesday morning hear the case involving suspected arsonists currently in police custody for allegedly setting fires on markets in the country.President John Mahama and several of his key officials suspect market fires in Accra and Kumasi are the works of arsonists.Preliminary investigations into a recent fire at the Kumasi Central market also points to arson. But the Adjabeng Magistrate Court Number Two yesterday declined jurisdiction over the case when the suspects appear before it. Arguments by counsel for the suspects, Carl Adongo, to be granted bail were not heeded.State prosecutors told the court they needed more time to conduct investigations into the matter. But counsel for the suspects described the explanation as untenable and abuse of the fundamental rights of his clients.Meanwhile, Carl Adongo has threatened to seek an order from the High Court to compel the police to release his clients.
