The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it has lost almost GH¢4.2 million due to the on-going load shedding exercise across the country.
The amount, according ECG Director of Operations, Tetteh Okine, covers the cost of the outages in the Western Region alone from January to May this year.
The Director of Operations said the inability of the company to supply power to Ghanaians is a major drain on the company’s revenues and a source of worry.
Speaking to Joy News' Kwaku Owusu Peprah, the Director said his main problem has been how to restore reliable supply to customers.
Mr Okine also said the Company was taking steps to prevent power interruptions during maintenance works through “live-line work” where technicians can work on problems without power outages.
Mr Okine was speaking at a meeting with all ECG Western regional technicians. The aim of the meeting was to find a lasting solution to power outages in the region.
