Interior Minister Kwesi Ahwoi says government will shut down media houses that will incite violence between residents of Nkonya and Alavanyo in the Volta Region. The two towns have over decades been engaged in sporadic deadly clashes over a parcel of land. They however signed a peace deal on Sunday after negotiations with government and a working committee. But Mr Ahwoi has warned that the media must desist from inflaming the tension in the area.“Especially the radio stations, they must be told very clearly that we will not tolerate any media attempting to inflame the fire that we are trying very hard to put off.“It should be within our powers to close down any such media house if we find out that such media house is about to plunge all of us into chaos once again.”
