Workers of Accra-based free-to-air television channel, Metropolitan Television (Metro TV) have served notice they will embark on a sit-down strike Friday morning in protest against unpaid allowances.The strike is expected to affect all live programming at the station.The first casualty will be the popular newspaper analysis show, Good Morning Ghana.The Metro TV chapter of the Communications Workers Union of TUC say they will remain on strike until all the allowances are paid.Samuel Annor Baah, Chairman of the union, told Joy News management owes them allowances such as overtime and holiday.He said the media had been at the forefront fighting for the right of workers from other fields, and it was time the media fought for themselves.Information available to Joy News suggests that there have been moves by management to avert this morning's planned strike.But Samuel Annor Baah told Joy News on Friday morning that “nothing has changed”, and insisted they will not back down on their demand.He described the action of the management as “unlawful”.
