Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie is set to walk out of jail this Thursday and his lawyers say he is full of gratitude for the hospitable reception granted him by prison authorities.
Today is exactly one week since he was jailed by the Supreme Court for contempt of court.
There have been reports of ill treatment by prison authorities who have been accused of moving him from one prison to the next without notice to his family.
But speaking to Joy News, his lawyer and MP for Abuakwa South, Atta Akyea says his client has had the best of treatments from the prison authorities.
“He is in good health and he is very grateful to the prison officers and they way they have treated him and the rest of it.”
He said he visited the jailed editor with his (Ken’s) sister without any hindrance. In fact, he was told he can visit him at anytime, he said.
“I cannot speak to relatives especially the wife trying to access the man and there are problems because I entered in with the sister and we met no hindrance, we met him and we didn’t have problem,” Atta Akyea attested.
He however cautioned against any intended massing up of supporters and sympathizers to welcome him when he is released on Thursday.
