Ashanti regional police command has called on indigenes who have arms in their possession to tender them in for regularisation. This call follows the discovery of 130 live cartridges in an uncompleted building which was being occupied by suspects in a motorbike theft case over the weekend.Security experts have raised concerns about the discovery of the arms and ammunition in the region in recent times, fearing it could be politically motivated.Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Tanko, said indigenes must help the Police to regulate guns in the region by coming forward with guns in their possession. He said the Police have also started going around inviting people who have arms to come and register them.He reiterated the Police's resolve to totally curb the manufacture of locally made guns and appealed to the general public to provide leads on local guns manufacture.
