President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday joined hundreds of Ghanaians who thronged the National Theatre to celebrate the birthday of late President John Evans Atta Mills.
The Programme also set the tone for the commemoration of the first anniversary of the late President.
It was also attended by Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, Chairman of the President Mills' first anniversary planning committee Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Ministers of State, the clergy, politicians, and family members of the late President.
Interspersed with drama, paintings and poems written by renowned Ghanaian artistes, the programme stimulated emotions and nostalgia as most of the patrons could not control their tears.
The performing choral groups included; the Dansoman youth choir, Winneba Youth Choir, Reheboth Temple Choir among other singing groups, who provided all the hymns and songs befitting the occasion.
It was also attended by students and traditional rulers from all over the country.
Reverend Fred Deegbe, former General Secretary of the Christian Council described late President Mills as a man of many ways whose performance as the President of the land humbled most Ghanaians.
He called on Ghanaians to leave behind legacies that would immortalize them in their death, as life was not predictable.
"Late President Mills left behind him a lot of values. I think everyone of you here needs to learn from his humility, honesty, faith and love for humanity and all Ghanaians," Rev Deegbe added.
He also appealed to Ghanaians to use remembrance of the late President to bury the differences .
Meanwhile, hundreds of people who could not make it into the hall of the national theatre also waited patiently at the gates to listen to proceedings in the main hall.
