The Chairman of Bono Ahafo Region branch of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has summoned 25 party executives in Berekum, to answer questions on their involvement in an attack on panelists at a radio station in the area.
After the invasion of Berekum based Agoro FM by over a 100 NDC youth on Saturday, the Police intensified patrols in the area to ensure adequate security at radio stations there.
The youth stormed the station to protest comments made by some of their executives regarding the appointment of a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
However, Regional Chairman of the NDC, Opoku Atuahene, said executives found culpable after the meeting, would be referred to a disciplinary committee to be sanctioned.
Tension in the area got heightened after the attack on the radio station, and it took the intervention of the Police to avert violence and ensure calm.
As part of measures to ensure peace in the area, the police have also instructed managers of Agoro FM to suspend their morning political talk shows until further notice.
DSP Daniel Darteh, the Divisional Police Crime Officer of the area has assured that his men are firm on the ground.
