The Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku has denied having any knowledge of a circulating tape in which he is purportedly heard making derogatory remarks about some of the nine justices of the Supreme Court hearing the election petition case.
In a statement issued Sunday, Mr Awuku categorically denied making any such comments.
He said: "I state very emphatically that the said tape and whatever by-products arising are totally fabricated and doctored and that I have never made the kinds of statements contained in the said tape anywhere".

My attention has been drawn to a tape and transcript which purports to be statements I made at an undisclosed meeting which is circulating wildly on social media and with the potential of doing same in the electronic and print media.
I state very emphatically that the said tape and whatever by-products arising are totally fabricated and doctored and that I have never made the kinds of statements contained in the said tape anywhere. I know absolutely nothing about it and I would entreat the general public and the media to treat the supposed tape with the contempt it deserves.
However, should any media house disregard this call and seek to join this adventure meant to tarnish my image through this very disingenuous way, I would have no choice than to head to the law courts, as a citizen of this country, to defend my rights to a good name and have such media houses penalized in whatever way the courts would deem proper. I have therefore instructed my lawyers to take judicial notice of any such publication and media houses that joins in this smear campaign.
Let me also state that if the intent behind this fabricated tape is to influence the impending judgment of the Supreme Court in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition, then I find it very lame and a mark of absolute desperation.
In ending, I would say that I find it sad that at this critical time when the whole nation is patiently waiting for the verdict of the supreme court in this landmark case, political operatives and their conspirators in the media would find the fabrication and doctoring of tapes as the best activity they can engage in, knowing very well that what it would invariably do is to increase unnecessarily political tensions before the verdict is delivered.
