Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew says the Black Stars is a better side than World Cup final qualifying round opponents Egypt.
He told Kumasi-based Kessben FM that even though the Pharaohs have a healthy mix of youth and experience, Ghana has what it takes to eliminate Egypt and qualify for the World Cup.
“They have a lot of new players, the team has changed, a lot of the old players are old and they have a lot of experience, confidence in themselves and they want to go to the World cup but we are Ghana. I believe we are a better side and we need to make it to the World Cup.”
The Olympique Marseille playmaker also told Kessben FM that the fixture evokes memories of the 2010 African Nations Cup final in Angola as well as the 2009 World Youth Cup in Egypt, adding that the Black Stars players need to have confidence in themselves to beat the Pharaohs.
“I think it’s going to be a difficult game. Egypt is a very good side but we have the quality to win. This fixture gives us good memories. We lost to Egypt in the 2010 Nations Cup final Angola and we won the 2009 World Youth Cup in Egypt so I believe that we need to take them very seriously, have confidence in ourselves and I believe that we can do something good over there.”
