Ex-Mamelodi Sundowns striker Emmanuel Baffour has signed a two-year contract with AshantiGold to revive his career in the Ghana top-flight.
The 24-year-old left the South Africa club two weeks ago to sign for the in-form Ghanaian club after failing to landing a permanent place at Sundowns.
Baffour, who was the top-scorer in the Ghana top-flight before signing for the Brazilians two seasons ago, returned home two weeks ago after struggling to land a deal in South Africa.
The attacker was seeking other moves in South Africa after he was declared surplus to requirements by Sundowns but it failed to materialise before he signed for AshantiGold.
Baffour has spoken for the first time since his return to Ghana and says his two year deal will help him to prove his critics wrong.
“I have signed a two-year contract with AshGold. I am confident that this move will help me revive my career after the difficulties I had in South Africa,” Baffour told Asempa FM.
“In football sometimes there are up and downs and I embrace my difficulties with a brave face to start again and prove that I am a good player.
“I won’t say I failed in South Africa but I will say I had difficulties but to prove that I am a good player I will fight to start against at AshGold.”
The striker is seen as a replacement for Yakubu Mohammed at the Ghanaian outfit.
Mohammed left the side in July after completing a move to Maritzburg United.
Baffour will work on regaining the form that made him the top scorer with 21 goals in Ghana’sPremier League, while he was still playing for New Edubiase in the 2011/12 season.
