Parts of the Kotoka International Airport is expected to be cordoned off on December 19, 2013 to allow for a full scale public health simulation exercise.
The exercise is part of Ghana Airport Company's intensive preparations to handle potential public health threats posed by passengers who may arrive into the country with deadly infectious diseases.
The exercise, called "Pandex Obaatanpa 2013", will simulate a passenger suspected to have contracted an infectious communicable disease on board an aircraft arriving in the country.
Airport authorities are therefore appealing to passengers to bear with them as normal services will be restored as soon as the exercise is over.
However, the health alert simulation comes at a time of the year when the airport is usually very busy because of Christmas holiday travels.
