Turn up the heat when you eat between the sheets with these new titillating taste sensations. The foods to take to bed include:
Mango
This tropical fruit has an intoxicating aroma that can perfume food-play foreplay. The fruit is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, which allows the two of you to feed each other repeated bites. Want to make things even spicier?
Honey
You stopped sleeping with a teddy bear long ago. Don’t bring a plastic bottle of honey shaped like one into the bedroom. Upgrade to wildflower honey, such as this bottle from Ballard Bee Company, which carries a bouquet of fruit and spice flavors. Try this: Tell your partner that after you close your eyes, they are to place a dab of honey somewhere on their body and you can’t open your eyes until you’ve found it with your lips or tongue. Take turns until you can’t take it anymore.
Sparkling Wine
There’s just something baller about sharing a bottle of wine in bed, as is, but bubbly makes it even better. The effervescence will tantalize your partner’s tongue. Alternate between sips and kisses. After a glass (or three), pour some down their body and then put yourself on cleanup duty. What bottles to buy? Look for Cava, Prosecco, or traditional Champagne.
Granita
Ice cream is too heavy to eat before a romp. Opt for this lighter, fresher-tasting dessert, which you can make ahead of time and keep frozen. This recipe includes pineapple, orange, and passion fruit (what a coincidence), but you can freestyle granita according to your tastes. Try it with espresso for a pick-me-up or sweet tea for a taste of summer.
Chocolate Truffles
Breaking out chocolate sauce in bed is a dry cleaning bill waiting to happen. Chocolate truffles, however, are pockets of velvety ganache enrobed in a thin chocolate casing. Allow the truffle to melt in your mouth, or break its shell gently with your teeth, and the ganache releases itself in your mouth. See where we’re going here? Just be careful you don’t smear them on the sheets. That won’t look good.
Strawberries
Squirting aerosol-aided whipped cream over body parts: lame. Making your own whipped cream by hand: hot. The homemade stuff is lighter, fluffier, and matches better with bright, ripe strawberries that the super-sweet stuff. To make it, place a metal bowl inside a large bowl filled with ice. Fill the metal bowl with 2 cups of heavy cream and whisk until the cream thickens, about 10 minutes. Yes, it takes elbow grease, but isn’t your date worth it? (Plus, you can do this ahead of time and chill it in the fridge.)
