The National Executive Council (NEC) of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has ordered all regional executives of the party to ensure that all 230 constituencies in the country elect their parliamentary candidates by April 30, 2008.
The regional and constituency executives must rebuld the party’s strcuter from the polling station to the constituency levels in readiness for the 2008 general elections.
The General Secretary of the PNC, Mr Benard Mornah, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic said the directive was part of the decision taken at the party’s first NEC meeting after its congress.
Other decisions taken were the reaffirmation of the party’s congress resolution tahat the PNC should alwys open its doors for electoral alliance with any political party that believe in the ideology of the PNC and had the development of the people as its main aim.
According to Mr. Mornah, the NEC was able to appoint deputies for six out of seven national executive positions. It did not appoint the three deputies for national chairman because the national chairman and the flag bearer had done sufficient consultations on that.
However the names that came up for the national vice-chairman position were, Mr Gabriel Pwamang, as first; Dr Edward Gyador, second, and Dr Ansah Kwei, third, and it was believed that they would continue to be in that order.
Those appointed for the position of deputies were Abraham Kaba and Alfred Addo Mensah, General Secretary; Egeble Quarshie, National Organiser; Yaa Asantewa, Women’s Organiser; Colsin Basiam, Youth Organiser and Daniel Nibi, Treasure.
