The Youth Wing of the Dormaa West constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has lauded the success of the party's recent national delegates congress, saying it was worthy of emulation by political parties across Africa.
In a communiqué issued at an end of year dinner at Dormaa Ahenkro, the youth hailed the maturity with which all the 16 losing aspirants conducted themselves and ensured that their supporters did not misbehave.
The youth assured the party's leadership of their unrelenting support but cautioned the leadership not to relegate them to the background after victory "as has been the case after the past elections".
Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiatives, announced that the international community had acknowledged the NPP as the best organized political party in Africa due to its pragmatic structures and commitment to capacity enhancement of members.
"Regular interactive meetings coupled with commitment of interest groups have placed the NPP at an unprecedented pedestal, making it too strong to be collapsed by any other political party in Ghana", he declared.
Mr Agyemang Manu assured the youth that the NPP had the necessary strategies to offset the opposition's "vile propaganda" and urged them not to succumb to lies and strategies designed to influence them.
"The opposition parties, especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC) whose lust for power has hung in the balance for several years, are posed to use all sorts of tricks to entice Ghanaians to vote out the NPP but we are convinced that the youth wing will not give them the opportunity to achieve their dream", the Deputy Minister stated.
Squadron Leader Ben Anane Asamoah (Rtd), Dormaa District Chief Executive, urged the youth "not to rest on their oars and get consumed by complacency".
"This is important because the NDC is still strong and can cause a surprise in the 2008 elections", he said.
The DCE explained that both the NPP and the NDC had governed for two terms each "and each has enough bullets to battle with when it comes to accusations and propaganda".
Mr George Adjei, Chairman of the Youth Wing, declared the youth's readiness to push forward and uphold the party's agenda, adding that they were more than determined "to win more souls" for the party in this year's campaign.
He appealed for the provision of basic campaign logistics to enable the youth in the constituency to deliver to expectation.
