Security solutions provider, Virtual Security Africa has added to its array of State-Of-The-Art security solutions.

The company has unveiled four new technologies at the recently organised JoyNews Habitat Fair.

The new systems are designed to enhance the efficiency of security surveillance systems by improving quality, reliability and performance.

These new additions are Facial Recognition Technology, Starlight technology, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Upgradable.

The facial recognition technology captures faces in a video recording which can be used for identification and recognition purposes, generate databases and much more. It uses alarm input and output, capable of being utilized with access controls and can be used for everyday surveillance of extensive systems.

This facial recognition technology, managers of the company say, offers a 98-100% success rate. It captures faces with Ultrastar light technology that integrates white light illumination which drastically improves the accuracy rate even in low light.

The system presents a simpler, efficient way to search quickly through days of video in just a matter of minutes to find a clip or footage that otherwise might take you hours to find. These are features that are very useful no matter the application.

Searching for faces is a simple process that can be done within a certain period or bases on available recorded video. Selecting smart playback, choosing the face icon and selecting the face is the first step.

The uses of facial recognition cameras are endless. There are many obvious applications such as schools, banks, supermarkets, department stores churches and hotels.

Touching on the Starlight camera technology, he said these cameras have one of the best sensor chips in the industry for low-light surveillance. Cameras with this chip can capture accurate colour images where there is little or no light at all.

Starlight cameras can maintain a colour image for an extended amount of time where other cameras would switch to a black and white image with the IRs on. 

Often when you use IRs with a traditional camera, Mr Asiedu said, the detail in the black and white image will all seem to blend together.

Starlight cameras can produce a clear, crisp, colour image that allows you to see an immense amount of detail in the image. A Starlight cameras IRs may turn on if needed but will pick up all available natural light and utilize it to produce the best picture possible.  Starlight cameras work even at long distances to capture details. Utilizing a lower shutter speed and a little bit of light you can get an extremely clear picture. Starlight cameras are affordable and available in many different housing options, he explained.

The third new technology introduced by VSA is Cloud Storage with a great feature to help back up important camera information. It utilizes the affordable paid storage offered by Google and Dropbox. 

The Cloud Storage feature is designed to back up select camera incidents and not mirror an entire hard drive. Typically it is used when you have a few select cameras that are covering an important area, and you want additional backup protection. 

Cloud Storage is a new feature that will continue to grow in functionality. While it will not mirror a hard drive, it does provide the ability to back up valuable footage offsite. 

The ability to upgrade products via the cloud is an extremely convenient option.
