A delegation of lady golfers of Achimota Golf Club have paid a visit to the Breast Cancer Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to donate some items to support the Unit.
The items donated included three wheelchairs, three separation curtains, two-finger oximeter, 10x100 disposable syringes, 10x10 toilet paper rolls, 1x50kg rice, 2x25kg rice and a cash of GHC1,000.
The donation was to support the unit in taking care of its Cancer patients and also to create the needed Awareness required to help fight Breast Cancer.
The items were received by Dr. Florence Dedey, the Head of the Breast Cancer Unit of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital with Dr. Josephine Nsaful and Mrs. Felicia Ahiahonu, the Matron, in attendance.

It is the second time the Achimota Golf Club Ladies Golfers are donating to Korle-Bu Breast Cancer Unit. The first donation happened a decade ago when one of the senior lady golfers who is a survivor donated to the unit. At the time, she insisted that all members of the ladies golfers of Achimota Golf Club underwent the Mammography examination.
The Lady Golfers of Achimota Golf Club have noticed that over the years, Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns have increased though not quite close to the Western world, hence their need to join the conversation. Therefore, the lady golfers have pledged its support to Breast Cancer Awareness Campaigns by holding a fundraising event annually in the month of October as set aside globally as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
During the event In Ghana, the Achimota Golf Club ladies golfers have decided to be more proactive by educating its members and the general public on the importance of early detection and effective treatment. "We want the lives of breast cancer patients to be saved so that no Ghanaian woman would have to die from breast cancer'', one of the representatives said.
At the just ended October Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Day held at Achimota Golf Club, the men golfers from Achimota and other golf Clubs were invited to join the ladies for a game of golf to create awareness and raise funds.
During the tournament, Mercy Werner returned a respectable net score of 72 to pick the ultimate prize in the ladies Group A. She beat Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah and veteran golfer Beatrice Bempong by just a stroke, with Vasties beating Beatrice on countback.
Unni Skogen won the ladies B category with a net score of 74 beating Celebrity Golf lady captain, Helen Appah by one stroke, while Mariatu Bah finished third with a score of 79.
Boris Afram of the men's division returned a net score of 68 to emerge winner in the men's category A, while Ben Adu Owusu and Jay Saab followed with 70 and 73 scores respectively.
Sezan Elisee picked the men's longest drive prize, while Vastie won the ladies version.
Charles Asante left the Course with the closest to the pin prize with Adwoa Asare Asamoah picking the ladies version.
Lady captain Christine Furler commended participants for turning up in their numbers for the 18-hole event and for showing support in diverse ways towards the worthy cause.
