Trade and Finance Ministers from West Africa are currently meeting in Dakar, Senegal to recommend the signing of Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union (EU).
The meeting has been necessitated by an earlier recommendation by a committee, that the region should sign the pact.
Joy Business gathers that the ministers are expected to approve the EPA and forward it to the various heads of state of ECOWAS to finally sign the agreement.
But sources say the ministers would rather be pushing for some amendments to be made to the 16 billion Euros fund meant to support countries that would be affected by the agreement, in terms of revenue loses.
Joy Business has learnt that the process is been fasttracked for the various heads of states in ECOWAS to sign the final agreement at the EU-AFRICA summit in April.
