Customers on the Airtel network who have activated their Airtel Money account can now top up their Shell Cards using Airtel Money, a statement from Airtel Ghana said.
This arrangement is in partnership with Zenith Bank (Ghana) Limited, who have been mandated by Vivo Energy Ghana, the company that distributes and markets Shell products, to issue fuel cards to customers and act as a depository Bank.
According to the Director in charge of Airtel Money at Airtel Ghana, Luck Ochieng, this arrangement is aimed at providing convenience to customers who buy Shell fuel and lubricants.
“One of the main unique attributes of Airtel Money is its convenience. We aim at offering customers with an efficient alternative to cash transactions,” he said.
He further disclosed that the collaboration with Vivo Energy Ghana and Zenith Bank Ghana are just one of many to be rolled out, as his function is always on the look-out for innovations that will bring comfort and convenience to customers.
Shirley Tony Kum, the Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana Limited stated that the Personal Shell Card was launched in April 2013 to cater for the increasing demands of individuals for alternative means of cashless payment.
Since the launch, there has been an overwhelming demand for Shell Cards from individuals and Zenith Bank has been one of the lead partners in driving this initiative. The benefits of the Shell Card includes: cashless transactions, security of your cash if even the card is missing, convenience of payment, the use of PIN codes to authorize transactions amongst others. The partnership with Airtel Money will simplify payment for top-ups on the Shell Card and further make payments convenient for the customer.
Zenith Bank Ghana, Vivo Energy Ghana’s card-issuing and depository bank, is committed to ensuring a seamless transactional experience for customers who use their services at any of their touch points across the country.
