Kofi Wayo, the controversial politician, businessman and social commentator says he wants to help Nana Akufo-Addo.
In a telephone conversation with myjoyonline this morning February 12, 2008, Kofi Wayo said even though the talk about the NPP flag bearer’s drug addiction is a rumour, he has heard enough to make the rumour possibly true.
There are rumours doing the rounds that Nana Akufo-Addo is a cocaine addict.
The rumour has gone to the extent that the minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) has an advert with the photograph of their flag bearer Prof. Atta Mills, and the inscription on the poster raises rhetoric questions about drug addiction.
This morning on Peace FM, Kofi Wayo claimed in an interview with Kwame Sefa Kayi that he has documentary proof to show that Akufo-Addo is a drug addict, and one of the proofs he referred to was a text message he reportedly received during the NPP delegates conference alleging that Nana Addo is a drug addict.
Kofi Way also added that, Ken Kuranchie, editor of the Searchlight had told him that Nana Addo smokes ‘wee’ and also uses cocaine. He said Kuranchie even told him that he knows the guys at Tudu who supply Nana Addo the drugs.
But when Peace FM called Ken Kuranchie for his side of the story, he vehemently denied ever telling Kofi Wayo that Nana Addo is a drug addict.
Following these statements, myjoyonline called up Kofi Wayo to ascertain the veracity of his statements.
In response to our questions, he said he wanted to help Nana Akufo-Addo. He told myjoyonline that, what he has heard makes the allegations possibly true. He argued that the number of people to whom he has spoken about the issue gives a high probability of truth, and therefore, he thinks Nana Addo should clear himself by having a blood test.
Pressed further to clarify the issue of documentary proof, Kofi Wayo claimed he has a report from an intelligence source he would not mention that incriminates Nana Akufo-Addo in a gold scam. When he was reminded that he claims he has proof of Nana Addo’s drug addiction and he should stick to the issue, he said, the document he has from the intelligence source on Nana Addo’s involvement in a gold scam was enough proof of his involvement in an untoward act.
