The Awutu District Magistrate’s court on Thursday imposed a fine of GH¢600 on Emmanuel Ametepe, a driver, for three counts of motor offences.
The court also cancelled an old driving license bearing the name Emmanuel Azasi, which was found in the accused’s possession.
Ametepe, who pleaded guilty to careless and inconsistent driving, failing to produce a driving license and using a motor vehicle without valid roadworthiness certificate, would go to prison for six months, if he failed to pay the fine.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Helena Aidoo, told he court presided over by Mr Kofi Ahiabor that on Thursday, February 30, 2008, the accused, who was driving a taxi Cab on the Nyanyano-Kasoa road at Estate Junction veered from his lane and ran into a Daewoo taxi cab causing damage to it.
He refused to stop when signalled to do so, but was arrested later.Source: GNA
