An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remanded Samuel Dzamesi, a welder, for defiling his step daughter resulting in pregnancy.
Samuel Dzamesi pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on April 17.
Assistant Superintendent of Police A. Suleman, told the court, presided over by Mrs Sedinam Agbemava, that the victim was a 13-year- old student, who lived at Akoviefe.
She said the accused person is married to the victims mother and they live at Kotobabi in Accra.
ASP Suleman said in October 2013, the victim and her younger sister were brought down to Accra by their mother to spend holidays with her and later the mother decided to enrol them in a school in Accra.
She said upon persistent persuasion by the victim's father to bring them back to their hometown, the victim and the sister were sent back in January this year.
The Prosecution said the victim was found to be pregnant and revealed that her stepfather defiled her several times when the mother was away to sell pastries.
ASP Suleman said further interrogation revealed one Dennis, a cousin of the victim, also had sex with her during her return to her hometown.
Medical examination revealed that she is 12 weeks pregnant and efforts are being made to arrest Dennis as well.
