The people of Ntiribuoho in the Afigya-Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region, are raising 40,000 Ghana cedis for the completion of a library complex and the construction of a KVIP toilet for the Junior High School in the town.
The funds are being raised through sale of farmers’ farm produce, voluntary contributions and support from non-governmental organizations.
Mr Sampson Adu-Poku, Coordinator of the projects, disclosed these to newsmen after a communal labour at Ntiribuoho on Tuesday.
He said over 250,000 Ghana cedis had been spent on the library project, which had reached lintel level.
Mr Adu-Poku said the community decided to construct the toilet following the collapse of the old pit latrine, which posed a treat to school children.
He commended Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, the Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the area, for donating 50 bags of cement in support of the projects.
Mr Adu-Poku announced that the people would organize a fund-raising harvest towards the projects during this Easter celebration.
He praised the youth of the town for their self-help initiative and urged them to sustain the spirit to ensure the early completion of the projects.
Mr Adu-Poku appealed to citizens living outside to contribute in cash or kind to the development of the town.
