The Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads Transportation has failed to resolve the crisis in the railway sector.
A meeting between the committee and the striking workers to try and get the workers back to work did not yield the desired results as the railway workers remain adamant.
They insist they will only go back to work when the Managing Director of the Ghana Railway Company, Mr. Rufus Quaye resigned.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee, Mr. Albert Kweku Obeng told Joy News that it would be unfair for the government to dismiss the MD simply because of the allegations levelled against him by the workers.
He said it was important for the workers to go back to work while the allegations are investigated.
According to him, the intransigence of the workers was unjustified since their demands for unpaid salaries had been settled.
But the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the striking workers, Francis Dadzie disagreed, saying no worker had taken any money.
He however said the message of the MPs will be delivered to the workers to enable them take a final decision.
Railway workers have been on a strike since last month to back demands for unpaid salaries and improved conditions of service.
They also demanded a 150 per cent salary increase and a resignation of the MD of the railway company.
