Ms. Ama Sumani is dead. She died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 around 4:00pm at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, Accra.Ama Sumani who was terminally ill was deported early January 2008, from the UK where she has been for five years. 39-year-old Ms. Sumani whose visa had expired while in the UK was removed from a Cardiff hospital where she was receiving dialysis for a year after cancer damaged her kidneys.Ama since returning to Ghana, has been receiving dialysis treatment at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Ama who could not raise the money for her treatment was receiving help from Ghanaians and friends abroad.Speaking to Joy News, her brother, Kofi Darko, said Wednesday evening Ama started complaining of severe abdominal pains. He said before then everything was going on well as Ama continued with treatment at the hospital.He added also that, when the pains worsened, Ama indicated that she could not hold on any longer, and shortly after, she passed away.Her body has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
