Although unconfirmed reports indicate that plans are underway to take the refugees back to the Buduburam camp, the refugees are unsure what the final decision will be.
It has been five days since the refugees were rounded up at the Gomoa Buduburam camp for failing to call off a protest the government said was illegal.
They had been protesting against a reparation fee of $100 given to them by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
They demanded $1,000 or resettlement in a Western country.
But the demands according to the UNHCR and the government of Ghana were unjustified.
They were therefore rounded up and taken to Kordeabe for screening after which they would be repatriated.
But reports today I indicate that some unidentified officials told the mainly women detainees to pack their luggage and prepare to be moved back to the Buduburam camp.
Some of the refugees, who spoke to Joy News, confirmed a number of buses had been parked at the centre since Friday morning.
Meanwhile a Liberian government delegation is expected in the country on Wednesday, March 27, 2008, to assess the situation.
