Below is the full statement
BLACK MAIDENS, WE’RE PROUD OF YOU, GO FOR THE GOLD
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection wishes to congratulate the Black Maidens on the feat they have achieved in the on-going FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, and urge them to go for the gold in their match with the Italian side.
Your hard work, resilience, tactical style of play and fearless swiftness has paid off. You have come this far by dint of hard work, making Ghana really proud. As a matter of fact, to have beaten former Champions North Korea, European Champions Germany and subsequently topping your Group B is no mean achievement; we salute you.
Perhaps this is what urged Canada to face you with such willpower. Even so, it only distorted your record of ending the group stages without conceding a goal. However, your rebound still kept them in check.
As you face the Italian side our message is simple: You have done it before therefore you can do it again. See the positive possibilities and turn your lessons into an unbeatable determination, go for the gold because you can! “live your goals” and inspire hope.
Signed:
