The Former Director of Police Operations, ACP Kofi Boakye is expected to contest the Manhyia Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD).
Officials of the party say ACP Kofi Boakye is one of many high profile persons who would be contesting the Parliamentary elections on the party’s ticket.
ACP Boakye was the Director of Police Operations until 2006 when he was alleged to have undermined his position by relating to people who dealt in drugs in a compromising manner.
He was subsequently interdicted following the recommendation of the Georgina Wood Committee which conducted an enquiry into the cocaine saga.
Now the former police boss is tipped to deliver the Manhyia seat to RPD.
The Interim General Secretary of the party, Mr. Kweku Manu Sarpong said the popularity of ACP Boakye will win the seat for the RPD.
The RPD is the newest political party in the political scene and claims that 95 per cent of its supporters come from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The party says it will formally open nomination for its parliamentary candidates on April 19 this year.
Mr. Sarpong told Joy News that the party will also set a date in May for its national delegates congress to elect the party’s flag bearer.
