The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) has trained civil society organisations (CSOs) in West Africa on innovative strategies to raise funds to enable them deliver on their mandate.
The training took place from March 26 to 28 2014.
The civil society practitioners who came from 15 organisations in West Africa were equipped with knowledge, skills and techniques to effectively raise funds to promote the work they do.
The three-day training on Resource Mobilisation and Proposal Writing gave participants strategic insights to raise funds that will boost the sustainability of CSOs.
The training benefited 25 civil society practitioners from CSOs in Nigeria, Benin, Liberia and Ghana.
Participants’ understanding on resource mobilisation and proposal writing was greatly enhanced.
“The training actually gave me excellent [knowledge] on resource mobilisation and proposal writing” noted a participant after the training.
“I am better-off now after attending this training. I have a good understanding of resource mobilization and proposal writing”, stated Dr. Omolaso Omosehin, Programme Specialist and Head of Legislation Office, United Nations Populations Fund, Nigeria.
He commended the training, adding that the session on proposal writing “introduced me to the items and requirements needed to write a good proposal”.
Based in Ghana, WACSI designs and delivers tailor made trainings to strengthen the institutional capacities of CSOs in West Africa.
