Mr. Stephen Kwesi Anin, a customer of the Kumasi branch of Stanbic Bank is the first winner of the bank’s ‘Visa Swipe to Brazil Promotion’.
He gets the opportunity to travel to Brazil with his partner to watch to upcoming Fifa World cup in June. The package includes a three night stay at a four star hotel, tickets to watch the Ghana Portugal match and 150 dollars spending money.
After the draw held in Accra, twenty other lucky customers also receive some packages from the bank.
Speaking after the draw, Head of Personal Banking, Benjamin Mensah said about 7400 customers’ have since used their point of sales devices nationwide.
He noted that the person with the highest number of transactions over the period automatically emerges winner of the promotion.
Benjamin Mensah indicated that the second winner will soon be announced in a draw before the promotion ends on April 30.
When reached on phone, an elated Stephen Anin was full of praise to Stanbic Bank for the honour done him.
He urged customers to take advantage of the competition, which ends in April, to swipe as many times as they wanted to win the trip.
Meanwhile, the bank also used the opportunity to launch its Point of Sales Devices (POS) as part of efforts to drive a cashless society.
The POS device which can be used to receive payments for goods and services bought with Stanbic electronic cards will be made available at various shopping centres and grocery shops across the country.
The Head of Personal and Business Banking at the bank, Nana Dwemoh Benneh, said the introduction of the device is to offer cutting edge banking to customers.
He noted that, Stanbic is the first in the financial services transaction sector to introduce the POS because “we are deploying technology to offer convenient and efficient services to our customers”.
Nana Benneh said the POS device is a computerized replacement for a cash register which is able to record and track customer orders, process credit and debit cards, connect to other systems in a network, and manage inventory, with the use of a card.
