The Authorities of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday announced that all gates leading to the Hospital would be closed everyday from 2200 hours to 0500 hours. Only the inlet and outlet gates at the Administration Block would remain open 24 hours.
A statement Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital signed, said the gate that led to the Korle Bu Police Station and the one at the Korle Bu Branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank would be closed from 1800 hours to 0600 hours daily.
The new arrangement takes effect from Thursday, May 1, 2008.
The statement explained that the measure had become necessary because of the increasing number of reported cases of theft, staff harassment and security threats by thieves and armed robbers on the Hospital compound.
It urged members of the general public and other health facilities that send emergency cases to the Hospital to take note of the directive and cooperate with the Hospital in its bid to protect life and property.
