A businessman, who allegedly defrauded the Students' Representative Council (SRC) of GIMPA, has been granted bail, Thursday, by an Accra Circuit court .
Mr. Prince Elorm Dor, Executive Director of Dor Consult, is standing trial for the alleged crime, when he failed to deliver on a contract he signed with the SRC to produce customized items after he was paid Gh¢45,000 for the products.
The customized items, which include diaries, pens and key holders were meant to be distributed to students of the university.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge of defrauding by false pretense and the court, presided over by Jennifer Anne, admitted him to bail in the sum of GH ¢50,000 with two sureties, of which one is to be justified.
Mr. Dor was arrested on April 25, 2014 by the Commercial Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service, following formal complaints by the SRC over his failure to deliver the items on agreed dates.
He claimed in his statement to the Police that he had contracted his Chinese partners to produce the souvenirs but there had been a hitch in the delivery.
However, investigations by the Police revealed that Mr. Prince Elorm Dor had not performed what he claimed to have done so far.
He is to re-appear in court on June 12, 2014.
