The Youth Wing Club of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was at the weekend re-launched in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region, with a call on all party supporters to unite, to enable the party to win the forthcoming general elections in December.
The Youth Wing Club was first launched by the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama in the same city, four years ago.
Alhaji Alhassan Abdul Rahaman, Chairman of the Youth Wing Club, urged party supporters to eschew their differences for the sake of the party and work together as one family to retain power and continue with the good legacy laid down by the NPP Government.
“We must not say this person belongs to this camp or I would not work with that person because he supported a candidate, who lost in the primaries and I supported the winner. This would not help us as a party, that wants to win elections”, the Chairman emphasized.
He said the flag bearer of the Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo brought all those who contested him and lost together for his campaign, and asked them to emulate that gesture.
He explained that the major aim of the Youth Wing Club was to break the power, of what he termed as, the “NDC die hard youth, in the Bolgatanga constituency.
“We must unite the ranks of the NPP Youth in Bolgatanga and win the upcoming elections at one touch”.
Alhaji Rahaman stressed that the Youth Wing Club was poised to work assiduously to enable the party to retain power and continue with the good work it had already started, including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Capitation Grants, School Feeding Programme, Metro-Bus System, and the repealing of the Criminal Libel Law among others.
Mrs. Agnes Chigabatia, Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, cautioned the youth to use decent language during their campaigns, devoid of insults and violence.
“We need to guard and protect our young and fledgling democracy, which is the toast of many Africans”, she advised.
Mrs. Chigabatia said the NPP Government had chalked a lot of successes and asked the youth to stress those successes during their campaigns and avoid violence.
Ms Alima Mercy Musah, NPP parliamentary candidate for the Bolgatanga constituency, commended the Youth Wing Club for the tremendously role it played, which led to victory for the party in the 2004 election.
She urged members, not to relent in their efforts and to embark on vigorous campaigns, to ensure victory for the party in the upcoming elections.
