The Ho Polytechnic Council has appointed Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi, of the University of Ghana Business School, as the new Rector of the Polytechnic.
Professor Sakyi is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and heads the Department of Public Administration and Health Service Management at the University of Ghana Business School.
He received his PhD from The Manchester University, UK with specialisation in Development Policy and Management.
The Polytechnic's governing council made the appointment at its 13th Special meeting on May 19, 2014 in Ho.
Professor Emmanuel Sakyi has vast working experience with national and international organizations.
He served as the country expert on management of research projects in Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. He also served as a consultant for the Government of Ghana and a number of national and international development organisations, including ECA, DANIDA, DFID, Revenue Watch Institute, UK, CDD-Ghana and IEA etc.
He has been an external examiner for several Public/Private Ghanaian Universities and, served as a regular panel member and academic programme assessor for the National Accreditation Board.
It is highly expected that he will bring to bear his business acumen to the development of the Polytechnic.
Professor Sakyi replaces Dr. Victor Jakpasu Affun as the fourth Rector of Ho Polytechnic. His appointment takes effect from October 1, 2014.
