A hub of historical monuments and fishing, James Town located within the Odododiodoo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is begging for rehabilitation of its tourism sites.
Home to historical edifices like the Accra lighthouse, James Fort, Usher Fort built by colonial masters, James Town's tourism potential still remains underdeveloped.

The potential tourism hotspot is dulled by squalid surroundings and shabby buildings. The community is regarded as the oldest and poorest in the whole region.
James Town in an ideal state could create employment for the residents.
“Most of the youth within this Odododiodoo municipality are being drafted into landguards….it’s a very good place for a tourist centre and nothing is being done here,” one resident complained speaking to Joy News’ Annie Osabutey.
The community emerged within the 17th century, due to the European slave trade that was very vibrant within the locality at the time and left an indelible trace of formidable edifices by the colonial masters.
However, according to the latest tourism ranking done by Africa Travel Co, a tourism site, Ghana missed out on the top ten ranked countries with Tanzania topping the list.
