With over 30 stations in Accra, vying for the attention of listeners, it is no easy task for radio programmes to serve their listeners with compelling and captivating content.

However, Adom FM, one of the leading radio stations in the capital continues to distinguish itself with well thought-out programmes for the delight of its listeners.

Arguably as one of the most listened-to radio station, its morning show 'Dwaso Nsem', wakes the city up from Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 10:00am with the vibrant host, Captain Smart, aka Dadaba Fine Boy.

'Dwaso Nsem' treats a wide range of issues from the political matters through social issues, among many others, and the host of the programme, Captain Smart, seems to have no fear or favour for any person in Ghana, be it a celebrity, a politician, a star or an upcoming star.

He simply defies all odds to put out exactly what his audience wants to hear.

His programme has often generated heated controversies that had topped the front pages of newspapers.

The station also boasts of good and seasoned radio personalities such as Afia Pokua, Kofi Adomaa, Ohemaa, Jerry Justice and also competent production team personalities like Kojo Preko Dankwa, Frank Adyei-Twum and Emmanuel Ohemeng.

A couple of weeks ago, the station emerged as one of the most listened-to radio stations in a survey conducted by IPSOS, a subsidiary of Synovate, an international market research organisation with branches in about 80 countries.

The research into which radio station in Ghana has the largest listening audience listed Adom FM as the leading radio station in the capital with 58.00 percent of the market share, followed by Peace FM with 46.30 percent.

Joy FM - 37.40 percent;  Hit FM - 36.40; Oman FM - 32.00; Asempa - FM 30.80; YFM - 30.50 and Happy FM - 27.90 percent.

Others are Radio Gold - 26.80%; XFM - 24.90%; Hot FM - 21.20%; Choice FM - 18.60%; Atlantis Radio - 18.30%.

Sunny FM 16.00%, Obonu FM 13.50%, Okay FM 10.20% and Green FM 10.10%.

The research results did not come as a surprise to residents of Accra and beyond because it is very common to find people listening to either Adom FM or Peace FM.

From the first quarter of last year till date, Adom FM has maintained its lead as one of the most listened-to radio stations in Ghana, according to various research institutions.

The station is currently working tirelessly behind closed doors to change the current trend of radio broadcasting in the country through well-designed programmes, good music and a motivated workforce.
