The National Health Insurance Scheme faces trouble as individuals not registered with the scheme are finding ways of cheating the system.“Some members of the scheme would want to see the doctor even when they [members] are in good health," Collins Danso Akuamoa, a coordinator with the scheme in the Eastern Region complained. He described the situation as both dangerous and pathetic as drugs prescribed for one patient might not work for another patient.According to the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinator, Amponsah Boateng, the scheme in the region even fraught with more challenges as registered members would go to hospital even when they are fit and healthy.Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer at the National Health Insurance Authority, Akwasi Akwa, says the authority is committed to improving health service delivery in the country. He said already the authority has secured new equipment to facilitate the registration of patients at health facilities. He said this would help avoid situations where patients queue for long hours before having access to medical care.Story: Kwaku Antwi-Otoo, Asempa FM
