The sight of a man in his late 70s on the roof of a house at Ashaiman in the early hours of Thursday caused quite a stir among residents.
Scores of people stormed the house and wanted to know where the man, who was holding his sleeping cloth came from and what he was doing on top of the house at 2 a.m.
Some, in anger, climbed up in an attempt to bring him down, but the roof caved in, bringing them and the man crashing to the ground.
Having survived the fall, he gave his name as Segbeti Agbenu and stunned the onlookers with the claim that he was a spirit man (wizard) clashed with a superior force and fell onto the roof.
He said that he was flying from Avedo in the Volta Region, to Kumasi but when he got to Ashaiman, "some Christians were praying and a bright light blinded me".
Agbenu said that having been, blinded by the light, he crashed into a 'road block' erected in the sky by a superior power and he fell down onto the roof.
The owner of the house, Anthony Adrah, told the Times yesterday that he was awakened by some noise from the top of the building but thought it was coming from a mouse or a cat.
"The noise persisted to the extent that the building shook and considering the time of the day I did not know what to do," he recalled.
A neighbor called him out to see an old man in a T-shirt and a pair of shorts standing on the roof.
The Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, William Kwanair said Agbenu was being held to assist in investigations.
He said Agbenu, sounding incoherent in his speech told the police that his wife and children were at Yeji.
Commander Kwanair said the man was being observed for sometime and may be referred to the psychiatry hospital.
