Volta Regional Minister, Helen Ntoso, says her outfit is taking a serious view at the recent shooting incident that led to the death of three persons at Xikpo in the South Tongu District.
It followed the shooting to death of two angry residents on Tuesday by a group of military personnel who fired into a crowd of agitated residents.
The residents had blocked the main Accra-Aflao road following an incident in which a speeding vehicle knocked down a seven-year-old school boy.
Asinyo Adzo 44 years, Emmanuel Zilevu 22 years were reported to have died instantly with the third dying a day later.
That led to a heavy vehicular traffic for well over five hours.
“Please bear with us what happened will never happen again,” the Minister assured the residents Thursday.
According to her, the Ministry was in talks with engineers from the Ghana Highway Authority to construct speed rumps and effect road signs to curb the menace plaguing their community.
“This one is not a promise that we are going to promise and not do it, I can assure you that as soon as possible, the highway road engineers would come back and put the roads signs and speed rumps for you,” she insisted.
She added that in the interim, police barrier would be mounted there to regulate speeding on their roads.
Meanwhile, the military high command has initiated investigations into the incident, Joy News has learnt.
