Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, on Monday appealed to family members of the late Nii Okoso I, chief of Aplaku, to bury their differences for peace in the area.
He said the area needed peace and tranquility to promote development, repeating the appeal in a separate meeting with members of the rival family of the late chief in Accra.
The two families disagreed over the installation of a successor.
He recalled that his ministry received a petition from the stool elders of Aplaku stating that Nii Tetteh Nartey, Aplaku Wulomo, who was made acting chief following the death of Nii Okoso, had failed to hand over to the new substantive chief.
During the discussions, Nii Tetteh Nartey agreed that the new chief qualified to ascend the throne, but he said the right procedure for nominating and confirming him was not followed by the king makers.
